Renewable Energy / BioDistrict
The development of renewable energy, the end of fossil fuel use, and a strong commitment to energy savings are distinctive features of the South Sardinia and Sulcis Archipelago BioDistrict. It’s no coincidence that the South Sardinia and Sulcis Archipelago BioDistrict has promoted the establishment of the first REC (Renewable Energy Community in Sardinia) – the Calasetta REDC, promoted from the ground up by organic companies and citizens, with subsequent participation from the relevant municipality (Calasetta) and strong support from the University of Cagliari’s Faculty of Engineering and Architecture since its promotional phase.
