THE B.I.O. MASAF PROJECT.
project summary
The project strategy is calibrated for specific types of objectives to be achieved.
1. To strengthen and qualify the organic production base of the BioDistrict territory, courses, technical meetings, and seminars will be held in which activities will directly engage organic producers in Southern Sardinia. Participation in these activities is open to all organic farmers or those in conversion in the territory where the activities take place. The participation of companies benefiting from business consulting action is planned as testimonials. Of particular interest is the BioDistrict Seminar, which will involve producers from the entire BioDistrict in a training course, with the participation of entities operating in other economic sectors and associations and structures involved in sustainability (ecotourism, green building, renewable energy, socio-cultural sector). The training activities will be aimed at farmers already operating with the organic method, including those in conversion; in some cases, the activities will be held in plenary and will allow the participation of subjects other than agricultural producers, but still interested in the sustainable and participatory development of the BioDistrict territory. The seminars that will take place within the BioFestival will emphasize this approach by broadening the discussion to include biodiversity, natural nutrition, and the energy and ecological transition that the primary sector must also face.
2. A business consulting service will be activated to support the administrative and technical management of the organic farm, which will cover the topics of short supply chain and processing and supply chain closure activities. Participation in these activities is open to all interested organic farmers or those in conversion in the territory where the activities take place.
The scheduling of these activities provides for their implementation in the first period of the Project’s realization so that the companies that have benefited from the consultation can attend, during subsequent courses and seminars, as testimonials of the possible improvement of production processes and company organization.
3. To promote organic products, the BioDistrict will participate with its producers in Fairs and innovative and entirely new initiatives: the BioFestival in Southern Sardinia and the Sardinian Organic Festival (in Italy and worldwide, in partnership with the Federation of Sardinian Emigrant Circles). Participation will be guaranteed in three internationally relevant Fairs: Natexpo, multisector, in Paris; Millesime Bio for wine in Montpellier, France; Expooliva for oil in Jaen, Spain, and at a Festival in Sardinia (Sini – OR) with a specially set up stand. Tastings will be carried out, and the organic productions of the BioDistrict and the activities of the BioDistrict in general will be presented.
Special workshops will be organized to promote knowledge of organic agriculture, organic productions of the BioDistrict, and the activities of the BioDistrict among consumers; during these workshops, information will be provided on the characteristics of organic products, and a free tasting of these products will be guaranteed.
Participation in all activities is open to all organic farmers or those in conversion in the BioDistrict territory.
On the occasion of organizing the events referred to in objective 3, the promotion of organic products and events (excluding any reference to company brands/logos) will be carried out on the BioDistrict’s website and Facebook page and on social media; slogans and key phrases from the European Commission’s promotional messages on organic agriculture will be used.
The Project activities are mainly located on a local basis. In particular, all of action 1 of the training/information type and all of action 2 of business consultancy, being aimed at the producers of the BioDistrict, take place exclusively in Southern Sardinia and are spread throughout its territory with an articulation also in the Sulcis Archipelago.
Action 3 for promoting organic products of the BioDistrict, however, develops in multiple locations:
On a local basis, a new initiative, the BioFestival, will be organized, which will wind through the area affected by the Tabarchino culture, in the metropolitan area, and in the area affected by the Sardinian culture of Campidano. In particular, on this occasion, there will be strong involvement of Local Administrations. Participation in a Festival in Sardinia (Sini, OR) is planned. Workshops for organic producers will be organized in the Metropolitan Area of Cagliari.
On a national and international basis, in agreement and partnership with the Federation of Sardinian Emigrant Circles, the Sardinian Organic Festival will be organized with stages touching Piedmont, Germany, Denmark, Canada, and the USA through participation in exhibitions and tastings of organic products.
Finally, participation in international Fairs will be guaranteed in France (Natexpo in Paris and Millesime Bio in Montpellier) and in Spain (Expooliva in Jaen) to touch all the productive sectors interested in the BioDistrict; participation in two competitions is planned: during Millesime Bio (10 wines) and at the International Competition held in Germany, Bestes
The Project is funded by MASAF, Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry under notice no. 109251 of March 6, 2024 – CUP J45B24001800001
